Sustainability

Sustainability and the environment are very important to me so we've been making changes to reduce any impact we may have on our environment in
 the Catherine Rayner Studio!

Cards and Envelopes

My cards have always been printed on FSC approved paper that is milled in the Lake District. The FSC certify that paper products are made from well-managed forests with responsible practices.

We are continuing to use Kraft fleck envelopes which are made from recycled FSC paper. Both my cards and envelopes are fully recyclable as I don't use any foil, glitter or other nonrecyclable elements on my cards.

My cards have been wrapped in biodegradable cello for many years, but in 2025 we are making the transition to naked cards! Biodegradable cello is great in theory but many end up in landfill due to limited recycling and composting options in local council areas, or because people mistake it for plastic!

With this in mind, we are transitioning to completely cello free cards. All cards printed from January 2025 will come with either a card clasp or wrapped in recyclable tissue paper to keep your orders safe.

Prints and Artwork

My prints are made with FSC approved paper and come wrapped in recyclable tissue paper. I draw on beautiful GF Smith paper which is also FSC approved and any artwork comes wrapped in recyclable tissue paper.

Packaging

All the boxes, book wraps and envelopes we use to mail your orders are completely plastic free, FSC approved and recyclable. We use recyclable tissue paper and stickers to keep your orders safe. Any bubblewrap used for more fragile orders has been reused in order to reduce its impact.

Babywear

My babywear is also planet friendly as it is made from 100% Oeko-Tex certified cotton. As cotton is a naturally occurring fibre is is 100% biodegradable. All orders come packaged in recyclable tissue in an FSC approved box.
